MathFactLab Alignment with Grade-Level Expectations

Below is a guide for how MathFactLab stages align with typical grade-level standards across the U.S.

Grade Level Standard MathFactLab Stage(s) MathFactLab Levels
K Fluently add and subtract within 5. Within 5 Levels A - C (Addition/Subtraction)
1 Fluently add and subtract within 10. Within 10 Levels D - K (Addition/Subtraction)
2 Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. Know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers. Within 20 Levels L - S (Addition/Subtraction)
3 Fluently multiply and divide within 100. Know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.* Basic 1 & Basic 2 Levels A - L (Multiplication/Division)

*Although most state math standards expect students to achieve multiplication and division fact fluency within 100 by the end of third grade, our experience suggests that a more realistic goal is fluency with the foundational facts only (Basic Stage 1: Levels A – E). Students would then work toward fluency with the derived facts (Basic Stage 2: Levels F – L) during the first half of fourth grade.

MathFactLab's Advanced and Challenge Stages

You may have noticed that our Advanced and Challenge stages are not listed in the table above. This is because the content in them is not required by most state standards. We believe, if possible, students should work toward mastery of our Advanced stages, as their content will prove very useful.

Our Challenge stages, on the other hand, are intended to provide enrichment and additional rigor for students who need extended learning opportunities. Please do not feel that your students need to master the Addition/Subtraction Challenge stage in order to be ready for Multiplication/Division.
