Using MathFactLab on an iPad

MathFactLab is compatible with iPads. There is no app to download.

When using MathFactLab on an iPad, students will use an onscreen number pad. Usually, this is across the bottom, but for a couple of strategies, students will find the number pad on the right-hand side. Other than this, the student experience is the same as when practicing with MathFactLab on a laptop.

  • Make sure to use Safari, not Chrome.
  • Hold the iPad in landscape mode (horizontally), not vertically.
  • Hide the Safari toolbar. The toolbar covers an important section of the MathFactLab screen. The process for hiding the toolbar is different for different versions of the iPad iOS. The steps for hiding the toolbar for the two latest operating systems (17 and 18) are explained below.

For iPads running version 18 iOS:

Hold the iPad in landscape mode (horizontally).

To hide the toolbar:

  1. Click on the options button to the left of the URL address window.

  1. Click on the ellipsis (3 dots).

  1. Choose 'Hide Toolbar'.

  1. To restore the complete toolbar, click anywhere in the remaining section of the toolbar.

For iPads running version 17 iOS:

  1. Hold the iPad in landscape mode (horizontally).
  2. Hide the toolbar.
    1. Touch the AA in the top left corner.
    2. Select the 'Hide Toolbar' option.
