Point Scoring to Unlock Level Lifters
To unlock the Level Lifter after not passing it, or to unlock a Level Lifter in the super-advanced multiplication/division levels, students must meet certain criteria. Typically, students need to earn 900 points on two activities, one for each operation.
The rationale for this requirement is that it allows students the opportunity to focus on their preferred strategies, and earning 900 points gives a student a good chance of passing the Level Lifter.
Answering all of an activity's problems correctly and within the assigned fluency rate earns a student 1000 points.
How Points are Calculated
The number of points each question in an activity is worth is determined by dividing 1000 by the number of questions in a problem set. For example, if there were 25 questions in the set, each question would be worth 40 points.
To earn full points, students need to answer problems both accurately and within their fluency rate. A problem that is initially answered incorrectly and/or answered outside their fluency rate earns half the available points. So for example, if a problem set had 25 questions (where each question is worth 40 points) and a student answered four of them incorrectly and/or not fluently, they would earn 20 points for each of these responses, rather than the full 40 available. These four incorrect/non-fluent responses would earn the student 80 points. The 21 correct-and-fluent responses would earn the student 840 points. Their resulting score would be 920 points.
