Administrators Using Tags to Organize and Locate Students and Classes

Tagging attaches a label or identifier to students or classes. These tags can be used to assist administrators, teachers, or interventionists in a number of ways.

Student Tags

  • Tagging students is especially helpful when students are grouped for support or progress monitoring. Tags allow interventionists to quickly locate students on their MathFactLab dashboard, even when those students come from multiple classes. Because tags can be added or removed at any time, groups created this way are easy to adjust as students move between support groups during the school year.
  • Educators can also use student tags to create subgroups that make it easier to modify settings or track progress for selected groups of students.

Class Tags

  • Tagging classes will be helpful if administrators or support personnel want to find classes with shared characteristics. For example, if different teachers are using different instructional strategies, class tags make it easier to compare outcomes and observe how those strategies affect math fact fluency.
  • Class tagging is especially valuable in larger districts with multiple schools and many classes using MathFactLab.
  • Tags must use letters and/or numbers, but no punctuation or special characters.
  • Tags can include multiple words.
  • Tags must be spelled exactly the same way each time they are used.
  • Tags can be added to an individual student or a group of students.
  • Students and classes may have multiple tags.
  • Tags can only be removed one at a time.
  • Class tags must be added one at a time.
