Creating Classes (Manually Rostered School/District Plans)

This guide is for administrators of school or district accounts that are not integrated with ClassLink or Clever and who want to add individual classes to their MathFactLab account.

Teachers cannot create classes; only administrators and sub-administrators have permission to do so.

When creating classes, please keep the following in mind:

  • Only administrators and sub-administrators can create classes.
  • Classes are organized within schools, so one or more schools must be added to your account before you can create classes.
  • In MathFactLab, students are organized by class. All students within the account must be assigned to exactly one class.
  • Assigning grade levels to students is optional. If you choose not to assign student grade levels but still want to sort by grade, we recommend including the grade level in the class name.
    • For example, Mrs. Smith’s first-grade class could be named “Grade 1 Smith.”
  • Class names in MathFactLab do not need to exactly match the actual class names used in your school.
    • For example, a teacher who teaches multiple classes may prefer to combine all of those students into a single MathFactLab class.
  • We recommend using shorter class names (for example, “Johnson” instead of “Mrs. Johnson’s Class”), as shorter names are easier to read and manage on the admin dashboard.

To Create Classes Manually:

  1. Select the Classes tab.
  2. Click the Add Class + button in the top right. This will open up the New Class form.

  3. Enter the Class name.
  4. Select the School to which this class will be assigned.
  5. One or more grade levels may be assigned to this class using the Select Grades drop-down menu. This is optional.
  6. One or more Tags may be added to this class. Click on the + symbol to add the tag.
  7. Click Add Class.

Repeat the above steps to add more classes.
