Reassessments: Reassigning Placement Tests

There could be multiple reasons why you may feel a student's placement within the program is inaccurate:

  • The student has not worked on MathFactLab for a while, such as over a summer or a long vacation.
  • The student, for one reason or another, was not able to his/her best on the placement test.
  • The student has received a significant amount of math fact instruction recently.

In any case, if you feel you have a student or students who are not accurately placed within the program, you have two options:

How to Reassess Multiple Students

  1. Go to the Students tab.
  2. Click the checkboxes next to the names of the students you wish to reassess. Note, if you wish to select all students, hit the checkbox in the header row.
  3. Click the Group Edit button.

  1. You will see at the bottom of the Group Edit screen 'Reassess in +/-' and 'Reassess in x/÷'.
  2. Choose the mode you wish to reassess the students in by clicking the dropdown below it and selecting 'Reasess. Move to Placement Test.' (In the below example, Addition/Subtraction is chosen.)
  3. Make sure to hit 'Save'.

After this, the next time the student logs in, they student will be given the placement test and will be re-assigned a level within the program based on their results. If the students are already logged in when you assign the placement test, ask them student to hit the refresh button. This will start the placement test for them.

How to Reassess an Individual Student

To reassess an individual student you can do the same as above, or you can do the following:

  1. Go to the Students tab.
  2. Click the edit icon on the line of the student who you wish to reassess.

  1. On the Edit Student screen, Click the dropdown of the learning mode you wish to reassess the student in: either Addition/Subtraction or Multiplication/Division. (In the below example, Addition/Subtraction is chosen.)

  1. Scroll up and select 'Placement Test'.
  2. Make sure to hit 'Save' and if the student is logged in, they'll need to refresh their screen.

After this, the next time the student logs in, the student will be given the placement test. After completing it, the student will be re-assigned a level within the program based on their results. If the student is already logged in when you assign the placement test, ask the student to hit the refresh button. This will start the student's placement test.

Finding the Results of the Reassessment

To find the new placement test result for the student(s):

  1. Go to the Students tab.
  2. Hit the refresh button if the student just completed the placement test.
  3. Click on the student's current level of the learning mode that was reassessed. Note, the initial level and the current level will now be the same, as the student (most likely) has not yet progressed a level since taking the placement test.
  4. You can also find the placement test results by clicking on the three dots on the students line and selecting 'Placement Test'.
