Family Plan Step 4: The Placement Test

When children log in for the first time, they are welcomed with a brief introduction to the program and are then given a placement test. This test determines which level seems the best starting point for the student. If a child does not complete a placement test in one sitting they will be taken back to approximately the same spot in the test when they next log in so they can complete the assessment.

If a child has difficulty reading the instructions they will be receiving during the placement test they can click on the speaker icon in the top left corner and the text will be read to them. This audio assist will only read the instructions, it will not read the math problems.

The text-to-speech option during the placement test may be turned on and off my clicking the speaker icon indicated in this screenshot.
This brief video goes over the details of the placement test.

After the placement test finishes, your child will learn their starting level within the learning progression.

You can see your child's placement test report by clicking on the letter of their newly-assigned level. The super-brief video below shows how to do this. In this example, Jane, the sample student, has just completed the addition/subtraction placement test and has been assigned to Level D in the program.
