Can a teacher change the Level Lifter settings?

Providing flexibility in Level Lifter passing requirements helps struggling students stay motivated. A teacher can change the Level Lifter settings by modifying the Required Response Rate and/or the required Passing Percentage on any Level Lifter assessment. These changes can be made for individual students or a group of students.

Changing the Fluency Rate

A student's Required Response Rate is the number of seconds a student is allowed per response to be considered fluent.  Response rates can be set from 2 to 120 seconds per problem.  Teachers or administrators can edit student response rates individually or as a group.

A student's response rate is considered in three situations:

• Placement Tests
• Level Lifters
• Point Scoring to unlock Level Lifters

Adjusting the Passing Percentage

Providing flexibility in passing requirements helps struggling students stay motivated. A student's score for any Level Lifter assessment is determined by the accuracy and speed of their responses using the following point system:

• Fluent responses receive full points.
• Responses that are accurate but within the required response rate receive half points.
• Inaccurate responses receive no points.

To pass a Level Lifter assessment, a student must earn a minimum percentage of the total possible points. This passing benchmark is set by the teacher, and we call this the Passing Percentage.

The teacher can adjust the passing percentage for Level Lifters for individual students or groups. The passing percentage may be set from 50% to 100%. The default setting is 80%
